an Inspector Luke Thanet mystery; "cozy" style, quick, light read
sending to Antof9 for her m-bag to moem
Arrived today for the m-bag going to The Netherlands. Thanks for your generosity! Yikes! I want to read them all :)
Just a quick update to let you know that this book is still at my house, and will go out in m-bag #2 on December 14. In case you're wondering, it's warm and dry and well-fed :) (and I'm reading it, which is partially why it didn't get in the original box!)
I really liked this book! I'm generally not into mysteries, but for some reason, this one caught my attention. I really enjoyed the way the story unfolded, the descriptions of the characters, the suspicions, etc. Each time I thought I had it figured out, I was wrong. The funny part is that when I got to the end where the "twist" was revealed, I had two of the female characters' names confused! Don't laugh, but that made it even more of a twist!
I enjoyed the interweaving of Thanet's home life into the story. I don't know if all the "Inspector Luke Thanet" books are like this or not, but that made the Inspector more interesting as a person.
I especially liked the "Britishness" of the book. The locations, house descriptions, etc. And was tickled by the fact that what I call a "beeper" or "pager", Simpson calls a "bleeper". Makes me want to ask my British friends what they call it!
Thanks for sharing this on the way to Moem, Deenbat! Back in the box it goes :)

This book just arrived in Antof9's second M-bag. Thank you so much! It will be released in an OBCZ, or handed directly to another Bookcrosser. This book will travel the low lands!
Ah, a murder mystery. Good choice, many people love them.

Met Moem for the first time in my life. In a café, she started handing out books, I took three home, among them this one. I expect to have it read by the end of the week...
Moem, have you read it or have you just been helping it on its way? ;-)

Well, it took me a bit longer to finish reading the book - life and work got in the way - but I liked it. A lot. Like Antof9, I liked the Britishness and the way 'normal' life is woven into the whodunnit.
So off you go, my precious one...
