The story of how a boy who believed in the goodness of human nature set out to change the world.
Pay It Forward is a wondrous and moving novel about Trevor McKinney, a twelve-year-old boy in a small California town who accepts the challenge that his teacher gives his class, a chance to earn extra credit by coming up with a plan to change the world for the better -- and to put that plan into action.
The idea that Trevor comes up with is so simple and so naïve that when others learn of it they are dismissive. Even Trevor himself begins to doubt when his "pay it forward" plan seems to founder on a combination of bad luck and the worst of human nature.

I honestly loved this book so much. It was a quick fluid read which was really inspiring. I give it a 9 – Very, very enjoyable, would recommend to others. Few things stand in the way of a perfect ten, such as the weird 2nd person (i think its called) and lack of detail in the last few chapters. And how its written sometimes like a report? I have seen the movie but it was yeaaaaaars ago and I can barely remember it. (Gonna rewatch soon!) My favourite read of the year? Mmmmm definetly. Even though its almost 2017!! Other favourite would probably be Confessions of a Shopaholic -blush-
The idea is that you do one good thing for three different people (like a random act of kindness) and instead of being repaid, you ask them to 'pay it forward' to three other different people. Brilliant right? This is the premise for the entire book. But what makes it what it is is the characters.
My favourite character was definetly Trevor. He was pure and wise, an 'old soul' if you will. He wasn't proud or concieted but a wonderful human who we can aspire to be like. I couldn't really stand Reuben... I know! I'll probably go against the grain with this one. But his character felt a bit too forced for my liking. Making him all damaged and stuff. I dunno. Just my thoughts.
If you want a high vibration read that will inspire you to be better human being this is the one. Its soulful and will stay in your heart for a long time. I think this is the one thats gonna move its way around Europe for the favourite book roundabout (:

My favourite book of 2017 ring ^^
Book safely arrived in Melbourne have commenced reading
This was a pleasant surprise I must admit. A naive story in one sense but also a book of such hope that good will prevail. My little quibbles I thought the love story was overdrawn and the ending a little rushed. The little snippet stories of paying it forward were interesting and I would have liked more of those. Many thanks for this choice Leahjett and now it is of to France.
The book arrived this morning. Thank you !
To tell the truth I was a bit reluctant and it took me some time to take the plunge.
But finally it was a pleasant and refreshing reading without too much of fairy tale feeling.

On its way to the next.
It arrived today. Thanks. Got another book to finish and then this one is next.
On its way again.
Arrived safely, thank you LilyKlip!
I wasn't at all sure I'd like this but I was pleasantly surprised. The feel-good factor wasn't overdone, though I'd have liked more details about how various people paid it forward. It's well suited to the bookcrossing community, with its many random acts of kindness! Thanks for sharing, leahjett!
On its way to alexotanil.
Just received it. I have already read the book and seen the movie so I will pass it on the earthcaroleanne as soon as possible. I think it's a nice choice, because so many years have past since I read this book and I still get emotional when I am thinking about the story. A good read although I have to agree with Billbooks that the love story was a bit overdrawn.

Passing it on to earthcaroleanne.
It's arrived but I seem to be in a slow reading phase and have a backlog.
When I started this book I wasn't sure I would enjoy it. I didn't like the way it jumped between stories at first. However it I was soon drawn into the story and it became very emotional towards the end. As Fifna said, it is perfect for the Bookcrossing community.

OMG! I have just finished reading this in the work canteen, mascara running and desperately trying not to sob too audibly. Any book that can touch me like that is worth high praise, which is surprising, as this normally wouldn't be the sort of book I would be that interested in.
The author does a good job of creating Trevor, a wise and yet naïve young boy, who comes up with a simple idea to change his world. He goes into his experiment with such high hopes, and then has them dashed as nothing seems to work out right - a feeling that we have all experienced. Only the reader knows that nothing has failed, that people are beginning to pass the kindness on - whether it's something huge like talking a suicide down from a bridge, or small like giving a coat to a beggar, or just odd, like not actually shooting an enemy in a gang fight.
And, the ending ... there are kind of hints throughout the book and I can't say it completely took me by surprise, but it was also mesmerising reading.
On the negative side, the style was sometimes a bit annoying, but the short chapters and changing viewpoints did kind of work. I did want to hear about other acts of kindness though ... and it would have been nice to hear from Gordie again in the last chapter.
But overall, a surprisingly good read. And of course, you are left wondering whether it would actually work in the real life? I suppose it's worth giving it a try!

Its with me now.
A sweet story really. A young boy Trevor is set an assignment at school to do something that will change the world. Trevor comes up with an idea of doing a good deed for 3 people and those people will pay it forward and help others. Trevor is a lovely boy, living with his mother and his father has disappeared. He likes his teacher Reuben and they form a lovely relationship.
It was nice to read about how Trevor decided who needed help and the impact of his little idea. Now to put that forward in the real world!
