Confessions of a Shopaholic
7 journalers for this copy...
I received this in the mail. Unfortunately I had forgotten that I was also going to get it as part of a book ring, and that copy has already been read and passed on. I will pass this one on.
Sending to BCer three104 in a trade. Thank you!
Got this in mail today. TBR. Thanks.
Rebecca Bloomwood just hit rock bottom. But she's never looked better....
Becky Bloomwood has a fabulous flat in London's trendiest neighborhood, a troupe of glamorous socialite friends, and a closet brimming with the season's must-haves. The only trouble is that she can't actually afford it -- not any of it.
Her job writing at Successful Savings not only bores her to tears, it doesn't pay much at all. And lately Becky's been chased by dismal letters from Visa and the Endwich Bank -- letters with large red sums she can't bear to read -- and they're getting ever harder to ignore.
She tries cutting back; she even tries making more money. But none of her efforts succeeds. Becky's only consolation is to buy herself something ... just a little something....
Finally a story arises that Becky actually cares about, and her front-page article catalyzes a chain of events that will transform her life -- and the lives of those around her -- forever.
Sophie Kinsella has brilliantly tapped into our collective consumer conscience to deliver a novel of our times -- and a heroine who grows stronger every time she weakens. Becky Bloomwood's hilarious schemes to pay back her debts are as endearing as they are desperate. Her "confessions" are the perfect pick-me-up when life is hanging in the (bank) balance.
I finished this today. I enjoyed it but wow did I want to smack Bex upside the head. Yeah, shopping can make you feel better but she was just being crazy/stupid/blind. Stop buying stuff! And the way she kept getting into situations where I would have just turned and ran, which she did a couple of times. I did like the way it ended though, how she kinda feel into the T.V. spot. And I am very interested in what developes with Luke. Will look for next in series.

This book arrived in the mail today. I look forward to reading it. Thank you for sending it to me.
I have to disagree with others, this book is not a "HIT", it is kindof boring and moves like a turtle. Will pass this book on soon.
Taking to the BookCrossing Meet-up tonight. If no one takes it, I will set it free.
I got this bbok at a BX meetup, and it has had mixed reviews, I see. It will be interesting to see for myself. I have looked at it several times and just never got it. Thanks, Momofap!
I liked parts of this book, like when things FINALLY start to come together for the main character, but overall, I found her to be more frustrating than funny. I also thought the book itself was sort of a formula-following, regulation, no surprises work of chick-lit.
