I bought this from a second hand charity bookstall during Knaresborough's Christmas Market this afternoon because I've enjoyed a few of this author's books previously, including the memorable Tulip Fever and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

Amazon Editorial Review: "By the author of the bestselling novels The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Tulip Fever, the poignant story of human frailty, temptation, and tragedy. . . .
Deborah Moggach has written an extremely powerful novel about the beautiful, bright, and ambitious Natalie, who should be doing something with her life. But instead, she’s stuck in a dead-end job and instead of improving her place in the world by her own efforts, takes advantage of the honesty of those around her, ultimately leaving them damaged and broken. Of course she denies responsibility, even when confronted with undeniable evidence that she is involved. So, when she sees a chance to change her life, she doesn’t hesitate to take it, even if it’s at the expense of someone else. After all, it’s only a minor crime. Nobody’s going to get hurt. But Natalie’s actions actually do have unforeseen and tragic consequences, and the ultimate question is will she be capable to meet the final demand to own up to what she has done? Emotionally taut and beautifully written, Final Demand is a cautionary tale about the battle between greed and love, and our own frailty in the face of temptation."

An interesting read, nothing special about it, but a pleasant enough way of spending a few hours . . . .

Released 7 yrs ago (4/25/2017 UTC) at Brigantes Bar & Brasserie OBCZ / Meetup Venue in York, North Yorkshire United Kingdom

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I can't remember when I last attended a meeting of York BookCrossers but from time to time, when I'm in my favourite city, I like to enjoy a pub lunch at their usual venue and release books on the shelves in the hope that they might find an appreciative reader.

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 nearly twelve million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!

Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
