The Bremen-town Musicians (Easy-to-Read Folktales)

This is a nice story about animals helping to take care of each other. I'll read it with my son and then give it away...unless he wants to keep it.
It is sad that some people don't appreciate an animal once it gets old...and the story talks about this and how the owners want to kill the animals so they don't have to care for them anymore. The saddest part is that this is all too true with people who are cold hearted and think their responsibility to an animal ends when the animal can't be useful anymore. In the story the animals band together to take care of each other...too bad this can't really happen as domestic animals need people to care for them.
