Got this from LoriPed as a gift for my birthday.

From Chapters:
It's America in 1962. Slavery is legal once again. The few Jews who still survive hide under assumed names. In San Francisco, the I Ching is as common as the Yellow Pages. All because some twenty years earlier the United States lost a war-and is now occupied by Nazi Germany and Japan. This harrowing, Hugo Award-winning novel is the work that established Philip K. Dick as an innovator in science fiction while breaking the barrier between science fiction and the serious novel of ideas.

Unfortunately the concept of this book is much more interesting than the actual execution of it. The scenario and world Dick has created is very intriguing. What would happen if the Nazis and Japanese actually did win the war and took over the US? But the characters and plot don't live up to this interesting world. None of the characters are given enough background for me to understand who they are or why I should care about them. The plot is a little all over the place. There are some big things that happen but they all fall kind of flat because you're wondering why you should care. Then the ending was the biggest disappointment of all.
