The Sunflower Plot

I got this fair-condition ex-library hardcover from a Salvation Army thrift shop. I'd thought it would be an amusing cozy-type mystery, what with the country-house cover and all, but it turned out to be an uncomfortable mix of violence and abuse with quipping and digressions. Main character Celia Grant is supposed to be both amateur sleuth and expert horticulturist, but while I love mysteries and gardening I didn't get enough of either from her here - and the writing in general seemed overblown. So, yeah, not my taste - but as this is the 7th volume in an 11-book series, presumably it has its fans!

I found this book on the Milford Oval at 3;30 pm on 4/19/17. It seemed like such a cool concept I took the book and had been struggling to read it for the past few weeks. I do love some mysteries, my favorite lately The Alienist and The Angel of Darkness by Caleb Carr. This one is an English mystery and l was up for the challenge to read it and pass it on. To say that I struggled to keep reading it is an understatement. I was never so happy as to finish it today and leave it in front of a statue in the Public Garden in Boston around noontime. I hope whoever finds it might enjoy it and keep it going on its journey. I will be checking the sight periodically to see where it ends up.
