I found this good-condition paperback on the charity-sale shelves at a local Hannaford's, and was glad of another release copy.
I've loved Tolkien's classic fantasy novel (and its prequel, The Hobbit) for decades now, though I admit that I took a surprisingly long time to get into them. Many times I'd pick up The Hobbit, read the first line - "In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit" - and put it back unread. It wasn't until I'd graduated from high school and was given copies of The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings as a graduation present from the librarians that I actually delved into it, but it didn't take long before I was hooked. Since then I've read them many times over, so my own copies are staying at home, but I like to release spare copies when I find them!
[There's a TV Tropes page on the book that's of interest. And I enjoyed the Peter Jackson film adaptations, starting with 2001's Fellowship of the Ring. And for an entertaining D&D-style spin on the film, check out DM of the Rings!]
