So Many Books, So Little Time

Hooray! This wonderful book arrived for me today! I can't wait to read it! Thanks veritas9!!
I finished this one last night. It was so-so for me. I did reading about someone who clearly loves books as much as I do, but I just never really connected with the author. She was at times snobby and judgmental. It was interesting how many of the books she discussed I have read just recently (Crow Lake which I loved and she hated, for example!) ;) I did enjoy her discussions about how certain books find you at the right time and how a book can be enjoyed at one moment of your life and not another. It just seemed that she herself forgot that at times!
Thanks again, veritas9 for passing this along to me. I am looking for a future home for this one.

This book has been on my wishlist for awhile because as soon as I saw the title, I knew it had my name all over it. Thanks for noticing that, Ri and for passing it along! It was great seeing you again today at our mini meetup!
So many books, will always hold true, but my summer vacation is within touching distance so maybe I will have more than a little time to catch up!

Well, it sure took me long enough to make time for this one!! Yikes!
I'm kind of at the other end of the scale from you, Ri. I hadn't read many of the books Nelson talked about but I really enjoyed her take on them nonetheless. That said, of those I did read, she seems to have completely opposite taste from me. And yes, while she is a bit quirky in her impressions of people, I felt myself chuckling quite a bit.
I know this is on the wishlist of many people but I think I'll save it for Bookgirrl to read first and then see where it goes from there. I think she'll get a kick out of it.

Brought this to our year-end meetup this afternoon, generously hosted by Jewishlibrarian and his wife, Debka, at their home. Thanks, you two, for a lovely afternoon. Attendance was small but food and company were lively! :-)

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
During the past year of COVID, I have gone through phases of lots of reading and being productive, and periods of not doing much of anything. Thinking about this, I picked this book from my "to be read" piles of books.
The book reminded me of finding unusual books in out of the way bookshops, reading books with my Father, then sharing books with him as an adult. Sharing books with my own children. The book got me thinking of my own book choices and timing. When I started making an effort to read more diverse authors, or when I choose a light or heavy read.
I agree with the journal entries above, the author does at times come off as a book snob, and I only partially got attached to her. I would say it is a light read, that I enjoyed. I put this book in my own front yard library, hoping the next person who finds this book enjoys it, and tells us what they thought of the book.

I can't remember where I found this book. It would have been in a Little Free Library. I will be passing it along to another Little Free Library.
