I got this good-condition softcover from the Book Cellar. It's a (so far) light-hearted manga about a retiring boy who finds himself constantly in the presence of the hottest girl in school, to the point where her fan club attacks him for daring to be in her vicinity. And then one day a building collapses and she saves him - by flying through the air in a witch-style pointy hat and cape!

Yep, she's a witch, and has been keeping an eye on him all this time, as he is apparently her "princess". [Just what this means isn't clear yet, but later in this volume another band of witches attacks, seeking our hero's seed - yeah, really - which suggests he's part of some kind of breeding program.]

The story's a relatively deft gender-flip of the "mysterious magical guardian looking after Very Special schoolgirl" plots, and has plenty of comic turns as well as some more serious ones. (Alas, the blatant bullying in school isn't addressed by the faculty, though when school witch Ayaka finds out that her fans have been pummeling Honoka, she calmly tells them that anyone harming him will be promptly burned alive. (She's a fire-witch, y'see.)

Then there's the Attack of the Giant Plush Bunnies (with nasty little fangs, and backed by more witches). And more plots from Otherwhere, which will presumably kick in in later volumes.

While the main characters don't have a lot of personality so far, the setup's rather fun.

I left this and several other books in this Little Free Library at around 12:30 or so; hope the finder enjoys it!
