I found this fair-condition softcover at a Salvation Army thrift store. It contains both of London's best-known sled-dog tales:

"Call of the Wild" is a classic tale about a family dog who's shanghaied into service as a sled dog in the Arctic and is torn between loyalty to his master and the call of his own wild blood. It's been filmed a number of times (with a variety of departures from the story), including this 1935 film starring Clark Gable.

[There's a TV Tropes page about the book and its many adaptations.]

"White Fang" is something of the flip side - a wolf/dog hybrid learns to survive in the wild, and then to survive the dog-fighting ring that he's captured and sold into. But when he finds a human master with a kind heart, will he be able to adapt? There's a 1991 film adaptation, and a TV Tropes page.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I left this book, bagged against the elements, near the signboard at the entrance to the beach at the very end of the Plum Island Tpke. Hope the finder enjoys it! (It was a grey, blustery day, wonderful for making the waves chop but not so enjoyable for strolling along the beach {wry grin}.)
