i held on to this book for years -- these books, really, because there are a few of them in the series, favorites of my mom's -- thinking i'd leave it at her beach house. she kept meaning to bring it herself, and kept forgetting, and then lo: another summer has passed me by, and this book, and it's series mates, is still land-locked. am i waiting for it to take itself? apparently, i am. and also, it apparently isn't going to do that!
