When I got a notice that I had missed an Express mail package I could not imagine who had sent me what. What a wonderful suprise that this book had arrived already! I am looking forward to reading it and will sit down with it tonight once the kids are in bed. I'm an emotional baby, though, and was having a hard time just reading the introduction letter. I hope I can get through the book without falling to pieces.

This was a great selection of poems. Jim seems like someone I really would have loved to meet and talk to. Thank you for letting me be part of this project.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful book with us. My favorite poem (and it was a toss-up, really) was "MSNBCNN" ... I think this one truly captures the spirit of our time right now in America. I am mailing this on to jblueafterglow in about 30 minutes!

My favorite poem is the same as tchouli's, "Her Touch". There were several competitors for that title.. "Friendship" is memorable.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity to read these poems, thank you sstich79 for including me in this incredible project. A splendid idea.

Tomorrow has become today, this book is on its way...

Wow. I found many of these poems to be very powerful, very moving. I am honored to have been a part of this project.

Mailed the book this afternoon to Sherlockfan. In New Zealand! They told me it'll take about 7 business days, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Journal Entry 14 by Sherlockfan from Upper Hutt, Wellington Province New Zealand on Monday, May 17, 2004
Collected book from PO Box Monday 17th May (NZ time) so compscigirl's estimate was about right. It could have been in the box on Saturday but we had to go out of our city very early that day before the mail would have been sorted. Just as soon as I hear from succulent I'll post it off - after reading it thoroughly first of course.

Journal Entry 15 by Sherlockfan from Upper Hutt, Wellington Province New Zealand on Tuesday, May 18, 2004
What an interesting project this was. These poems were certainly full of realism and pathos, hope and despair, the thoughts of a young man regretably cut off in his prime. A real tragedy. My favourite poem perfectly mirrored my thoughts and feelings about photographs.
I'm pleased that Sstich79 included me in this bookring.
Today, 18th May NZ time, I posted it on to succulent with the requested comment and an illustrative postcard from NZ. I've copied the poem to keep for myself, and Sara's covering letter.
Thanks to everyone involved.

HALFWAY THERE!!!! Thank you all so much!

I just wanted to drop a quick note to thank all of you who have given of your time (and extra shipping money!) to help me with this project so far. I can't believe how fast the book has made it halfway around the world; I will keep my fingers crossed that it finds its way home quickly too!

I feel very honoured to have been part of this and to have read the poems written by this remarkable young man who was so honest and eloquent in expressing his feelings. Sending it off to jawin today

Journal Entry 19 by jawin from Launceston, Tasmania Australia on Monday, June 14, 2004
and it arrived today (Tuesday 13/06). I shall endeavour to read this in the next couple of days and keep it moving.

Journal Entry 20 by jawin from Launceston, Tasmania Australia on Monday, June 28, 2004
This is a touching tribute to an amazing young man. His poetry shows the angst and uncertainty that could be expected from a person of his age, but it is overlain by moments of insight well beyond his years.

Thanks for including me in this ring - I am honoured to have been part of it.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Thank you sstich79 for including me in this wonderful ring..
James' poems are really beautiful..reading his poems reminds me of some of William Carols Williams poetry (thats my opinion)
sometimes i felt so close to some of the poems as if they were speaking my mind!
James' poems have really touched me.

Thank You again Sstich79
I PM'd the next reader.. and i will FedEx the book as soon as i get the mail address.

Mailed yesterday to aris1.

Journal Entry 24 by aris1 from Nea Smirni - Νέα Σμύρνη, Attica Greece on Thursday, July 29, 2004
Arrived two days ago from Kuwait! Thanks guys, the whole project is very interesting. Not only I enjoyed James's poems, but I got a chance to read postcards from all over the world!

I liked "Her Touch" a lot and "Buy the Ticket", although I will not give the book a perfect score (I can not help being objective, I think James would like that). It was a very powerful read though, pretty melancholic but, hell, it was worth of a try for the young poet...

Thanks for sharing this experience with me, I will send it to Germany asap

P.S.: The photo is just a joyfull add. Athens 2004 Olympic Games are only a week away and Phevos and Athena are our official masquots...

The book arrived safely today, sstich I tried to email you to let you know, but couldn't. It looks just beautiful, and you are going to be very happy when it returns to you. Am really looking forward to reading this.

Journal Entry 29 by islandmomma from Tenerife - Granadilla de Abona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife Spain on Monday, September 13, 2004
This is a remarkable book and a great tribute to Anne that she raised a son who was not only talented but also clearly very concerned about the state of the world and society. Some of the poems definitely brought a lump to my throat, and others made me think. My favourite was "Mother", how could it not be! How comforting for Anne to know how much her son loved her.

I am travelling at the moment, and am in England, so intending to mail this tomorrow to quizgirl, who lives here. I will confirm that once it is mailed and as soon as I have computer access again.
Thanks for sharing this sstich79. It is a great present and I am sure your friend will be deeply moved.

Received today from islandmomma. Thanks for the chance to be part of this project. Will journal again later with my impressions of this young man's work.

BTW, my first husband's surname, and that of three of my children, is Hinds.

This book will be on its way home tomorrow.

My favourite is 8th and Pine which is about people on the underground train.

Thanks, Sara, for letting us read the poems of this young man.
What a lovely permanent reminder of a much loved son.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, the circle is complete: Jim's book has finally found its way home after a truly wonderful journey! Thank you all SO MUCH for participating; it's absolutely beautiful. Really, there are no words to explain how much this means to me, and how much I hope it will mean to Anne. I've been on pins and needles waiting for the book to arrive (it seems as though it's been traveling forever and a day), and I screamed like a little child on Christmas morning when I found it in the mail, then cried like a baby while reading it. Your postcards and notes are really touching, and I thank you so much for taking the time to really consider Jim's messages.

Cody and I are in the process of moving this week, but we will hopefully be able to plan to visit Anne next week and take "Circle of Life" to her. I will be sure to explain the BookCrossing concept to her as well, so maybe we will find her (and more copies of Jim's book) here in the future!

Again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart for helping me create this wonderful keepsake. People like you make me feel a little better about the world, and remind me what an awesome community BookCrossing truly is!

Thoughtful, sweet, considerate, a lovely young lady - that is Sara Stich. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to Sara and all who read Jim's books and made such lovely comments about it - you did this Mother's heart a world of good!! Jim will live on through his work, and through people like you!!!
