A huge parcel was filling the mailbox today when I got to work. I had completely forgotten I was tagged by bookstogive and I certainly wasn't waiting for three books from anywhere! I loved the Little House on the Prairie -series, both as books and on telly. It's high time I read some more about Laura's life. Thanks again, bookstogive.
The light and durable Better World plastic envelope (in which the books arrived) is perfect for sending something to faraway Nepal, to ApoloniaX's orphan kids.

Finally I began reading this as I am sending some of my childhood books by Laura to Sweden and mentioned I also have this book which would be much appreciated there, so began reading it right away.
I've also thought that Laura's books are girls' books, so found it funny that Stephen Hines was such an avid fan of hers whereas his wife, a librarian, had never read Laura's books. Good for him! And for putting together this book, which is an interesting piece of history. I would never had survived out there, on those primitive and remote farms.
Still reading and I have to confess that I jumped over all those recipes as I am useless in kitchen.

Are wood ashes the same thing as sawdust? Laura collected it from the mill and put under young apple trees, but surely mills do not burn wood?
An interesting book. Laura gets to travel to Sweden next. Enjoy!
