It's a new month... time for some new bug fixes!
While Matt is still working on harnessing the book data that we all have contributed to, and making it available for searches, he's also been rather busy fixing other things, and even adding some nifty little features. Read all about it in this Announcements forum post.

Cover: St Andrews, Fife – not known for its glorious weather, but even so, Josh hadn’t expected the sea to start to freeze and ice to creep up the beaches… His summer holiday isn’t looking too promising, especially as his only companions are a strange local girl, Callie, and her enormous dog Luath.

Then they uncover the journal of an eighteenth-century girl who writes about a Kingdom of Summer, and suddenly they find themselves thrown headlong into a storm of witches, ice creatures, magic and the Winter King. A permanent winter threatens unless they can help restore the natural balance of the seasons.

Can they stop the Winterbringers once and for all?

Gill Arbuthnott is the author of two other novels for children, The Chaos Clock and The Chaos Quest. She is a teacher and lives in Edinburgh.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

An action-packed drama4 rampage might have been one way to go with a witchy tale but agreeably this had a rather more thought provoking slow build till the tension stretched to cracking point. The intertwining of the historic and contemporary settings was compelling and kept the momentum up and while the overview was ominous there was “a warmly satisfying ending” THE SCOTSMAN. I enjoyed this and think this TIMES EDUCATION SUPPLEMENT SCOTLAND review is worth quoting in agreement; “Dramatic, well crafted, well sustained, and imaginative. Her relationships are utterly convincing, written without affectation of self-consciousness.”

I heard Gill Arbuthnott talking about this book, way back in gosh I cannot recall when, and was intrigued. The Winterbringers was on my wish-list for a long time yet this year within a month I found two copies! Well I didn’t hang about and snapped them both up feeling they would be intriguing Scottish writing and grand books to BookCross. Themed release opportunities a plenty, Halloween, Christmas the annual book festival in Edinburgh, a release in Pittenweem this list could go on! This is the first of my two copies to travel!
