Apologies to Rainbow3 whose book this originally was, but I don't have a BCID for it so am registering it myself.

This is a stunningly-written little book which perfectly captures a couple's lingering obsession with maintaining a static homely paradise, and the toll this ultimately takes on them and their children. The characters are brilliantly-drawn, and I really fell into this novel in a way I haven't for some time. Loved it! (Even though it is sad indeed.)
