Amazon Editorial Review:
To Survive in a ruined world, she must embrace the darkness…
Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a walled-in city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten. Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them—the vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself dies…and becomes one of the monsters. Forced to flee her city, Allie must pass for human as she joins a ragged group of pilgrims seeking a legend—a place that might have a cure for the disease that killed off most of civilization and created the rabids, the bloodthirsty creatures who threaten human and vampire alike. And soon Allie will have to decide what—and who—is worth dying for…again.
Picked up in the Northern Territory to read and then release.

I enjoyed this read and look forward to the chance to read the next book in the series. However, I didn't rate it as highly as I might have because of some logic problems.
It is many years since civilisation collapsed and the buildings have decayed (I got the feeling it was several generations ago. Grandparents were mentioned somewhere from memory.); roofs falling in, windows smashed everywhere (why everywhere...did people go around doing this; otherwise why?), furniture is crumbling and mouldy, but despite all this, gasp, food can still be sometimes found in the rotting ruins; tins of food - the tins not rusted through, and even more miraculous, gasp, a bag of pretzels and jerky (why hasn't the bag disintegrated long ago and the rats found it?). The furniture, etc has rotted, but not it seems pretzels and jerky! WOW! GASP! Magic, miracle food!
Some authors appear very removed from reality. This is not the first book I have read about life after civilisation has collapsed, where the author has no idea!
But putting those annoying deficiencies aside, I enjoyed the read.
Not maybe the author's fault.
Allison Sekemoto is Asian in appearance. Early in the book this is revealed, yet the cover picture is of someone of European descent. Why? Okay, I can guess why...but why????

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I visited these two excellent little libraries in Curtin, ACT and exchanged books in both of them. It's a shame I didn't notice any other BC books (I check for BC spine labels), but I will register the two books I exchanged for the two BC books.
I noted that two BC books I left there previously were gone, so someone must be appreciating them, which is good.
If you take this book the previous readers would really appreciate if you could please log your find. That way we can all follow the book's journey. Bookcrossing is spam free and your details are private, or you can log the find anonymously. Thank you and enjoy the read.
To the finder, enjoy, and I hope you will write a journal entry so that previous readers will know that this book has been found (even anonymously). It is always a joy to find where it has gone. Once you've read this book, pass it on to a friend, or set it out "in the wild" for someone else to find as you did.
You can remain anonymous but if you are interested in joining please consider using - Goldenwattle as your referrer.
When you pass this book along, please make a release note to let others know where you left it. Thank you.
