An incredibly intense memoir of Macdonald's training of a goshawk, Mabel, and at the same time trying to come to terms with the death of her father. Interwoven is the story of T.H. White, and how his many flaws feed into his mishandling of his goshawk. Sometimes disturbing, always interesting, I found myself drawn into Macdonald and Mabel's worlds.

I work in Chirk Castle and this book was found on a windowsill in our Long Gallery when opening up the castle at 8am. I have not had time to read the book, but am going on a little trip this weekend and thought I'd drop the book off along the way!

I hope the next keeper of the book enjoys and passes it on for its next adventure.

Happy travelling 😀

Book found in the Crypt at St Martin in The Fields. Serendipitous as I had just been bemoaning the fact that I had nothing to read on my imminent rail journey back to Devon! Devonian by birth but actually there on holiday from Australia, finding the book has been a highlight of my trip.
Read on the train then the plane, I found the writing engaging but after 2/3 began to feel repetitious. Not something I would have chosen for myself, and has made me reconsider future book choices.
Back to work this week and I intend to leave this somewhere in Brisbane, Queensland! Hope I find another book soon.
