I took this book out of the cargreen Phone box library as I thought it sounded good, how wrong I was. I found the whole thing dull and lifeless. I thought the characters were rather dull and unrealistic.

It's a funny coincidence because when I picked this up from the post office there were also books from the other sweepstakes I entered, the Non-fiction one, which is the first I've ever won since my time on BC! So funny that I won one and was the decoy for the other. Thank you for thinking of me and I hope you enjoy my books when they get there.

This book pulled me in pretty fast, and I read it quickly too. I'm quite fond of crime fiction and willing to give almost anything a go, but because I read a lot of it, I'm also pretty picky, and this author didn't really do it for me.

The main character seemed to be constantly justifying or sensitive about being a woman in her position, when no one else seemed bothered about it but her. She also was really judgmental about people--often making up her mind as to their characters the instant she met them, something I found really annoying. I also wish the author would use consistency in her surnames/first name choices. The resolution was also a bit of a let-down, I'd expected something a little more surprising somehow. All the same, it did keep me reading, as I wanted to know how it ended; but likely I won't look for more from this author, as I said. To be fair, it is her debut book -- but still; perhaps a good editor would have helped.

I dropped in at Curilo, a cute little cafe and restaurant opposite the British Embassy, as I waited for my scooter to get fixed this morning. They have an awesome breakfast bagel with egg, cheese and bacon that I enjoyed with a cappuccino. Highly recommended!
