CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

When Fiona Macleod is sent by her guardian aunt and uncle to spend a London season with the Tribble sisters, it is something of a last resort. At nineteen, Fiona is a beautiful and wealthy Scottish heiress, yet for some mysterious reason, her several proposals of marriage over the past few years have all fallen through at the last moment.

Amy and Effy Tribble, professional chaperones whose School for Manners has recently made them the talk of fashionable London society, are always short of cash and gladly take on Fiona as a new client. They promise to reform the girl, train her in proper comportment and the feminine arts, and can guarantee a mutually profitable marriage by the end of the season, taking Fiona off her guardians' hands forever. But when Fiona arrives at the Tribble sisters' shabbily genteel London townhouse, she shocks them by behaving perfectly. They are thoroughly puzzled by their seemingly demure new client, until they take Fiona to her first ball, and realize that their charge is an incorrigible flirt.

Face to face with Lord Peter Havard, the season's most unattainable rake, Fiona loses her composure, betraying her real feelings - and the Tribbles are forced to confront the truth about her past. It may be too late to salvage Fiona's reputation, but the Tribbles - who have never claimed to be perfect - must also consider their own reputations in this delightful Regency. From fantasticfiction.com

Of course all is not as it seems for the demure Fiona, with the lamentably horrid relatives, is up to something! Sadly she is also in thrall to a some frightening conjectures about why marriage just would not suit her. Thank the lord there is a rake about for her to stumble over to quell those fears.

Another piece of amusing flummery from M.C. Beaton.

Soon into the post for Flutterbies9 in Somerset.

EDITED TO ADD – MON 19 NOV 2018: my planned REGENCY BOX RAY, put on hold, is finally posted.

Journal Entry 6 by Flutterbies9 at Meare, Somerset United Kingdom on Friday, November 23, 2018
Arrived safely in Somerset in a beautifully decorated box (recognised some paper as from me on your birthday gifts! and so appropriate for this). I have many books at present but I'm sure I can squeeze these easily read little critters in somewhere whilst reading my Secret Santa books and Book Club book. In fact, these may well not stay on tbr for long at all. Oddly, I've not read many of these in this series by M C Beaton so getting a whole posse of them at once is just great.

Well, this whole series waited a little longer than I realised but is finally read.

The second of the series with the Tribbles twin sisters and the School of Manners. Rainbow3 has already explained the rest in detail in her entry above so suffice to say, a very pleasant easy Regency romance read.

I think there was an original plan for this but I will have to search my records to see what that was as I have forgotten.
