I bought this from the YMCA charity shop in Boroughbridge this afternoon. I don't know why!

A powerful family story, with all sorts of strands, including left-wing politics, faith, addiction, fidelity and its opposite . . .
I didn't want to put it down and, fortunately, I was in holiday-mode so I didn't need to!

Thanks for this Nu-Knees. I can see why you thought of me. Marxism certainly appeals me, and for some reason I also seem to be drawn to books with Jewish themes but I'm not quite sure why. I found it to be quite a page turner. I was a bit disappointed by the big secret though, not nearly shocking enough! The cast aren't particularly nice, but I was rooting for them anyway.

I've read this on holiday in Bath, and will hopefully find a suitable book swap shelf to leave it on in a cafe somewhere, rather than dragging it back home.
