As much as I like the Jack Reacher stories, this was not one of the best. The first part of the book was kind of boring. Thank goodness, the last half was much better. A tiny place surrounded by wheat fields with a railroad stop is the town of Mother's Rest. Reacher wants to know why this town has this name. He meets a woman, Michelle Chang who believes him to be her missing partner in a private investigation. Reacher, as usual, has all the time in the world and no place to go, so he teams up with Chang. It might be a mistake as he will have to confront the worst nightmare of his life.

Reacher gets off the train in Mother's Rest. A woman seems to be there to meet him. A case of mistaken identity. Her partner is missing. They are part of a private investigation team. After hearing her story Reacher decides to help her find out what is going on. So they team up and start to ask around. Then strange things start to happen. This is kind of a weird story about a topic and events I really don't want to even think of. Not one of Childs best.
