Only picked it up today at the excellent Recycling Gala at Sherwood Community Centre, where I bought a clock made from a page from 'Jane Eyre' amongst other things. What a brilliant idea bookcrossing is; I'd come across it in a more informal mode in Cambridge, where people were encouraged to 'launch' books on buses/trains etc (not entirely sure what Stagecoach made of this initiative). It may well prove to be part of the answer to my chronic book collecting...I'll be back to report on the ok and it's next release point.

Finally got round to reading this, after it has roosted patiently on my 'to be read' ziggurat for over a year. Thoroughly engaging (stayed in bed all morning to finish it) and the chopping between different narratives not as jarring or frustrating as in other novels. William Boyd has a way of writing that lodges in your memory ; I still recall most details of his novel 'An Ice Cream War' 35 years (and several thousand other books) after reading it, and I suspect this too will continue to give me food for thought for months to come. He is particularly good at gently anatomising the motivations we ave difficulty in admitting to ourselves and how this distorts our lives. Am being ambitious with its release - hope to send it off to Kenya with a friend.
