Journal Entry 4 by Megi53 from Danville, Virginia USA on Wednesday, August 8, 2007
This book has been on my TBR pile the longest time! It feels so good to finally finish reading it.

It wasn''t the easy read I was expecting, but I enjoyed it. Reminded me of a very excellent masters thesis -- perhaps for a communications or English major.

The graphics were terrific -- in addition to the floorplans for Kinsey''s apartment, there were maps and charts. For those who haven''t read the Millhone series at least through M Is For Malice, be advised that the chart on pages 255-259 names all the murderers, the people they killed, and the end result of the cases.

I had wondered if I''d need to reread all the books in order to follow Kaufman''s and Kay''s narrative -- as it turns out, no. The authors are very thorough in describing all the plots and characters from the first thirteen books. It was a pleasure being reminded of my favorite little details: the heroine''s oceanside jogs, Rosie''s Hungarian food, Dietz (love him!), haircuts with nail scissors, an all-purpose black dress ...

The last three chapters delved into writing style, the symbolism of water, psychological (heavy on the Jung) and sociological aspects of novels, and the history of detective fiction. (Uh-oh! Another one for my wishlist: The Unfortunate Traveller by Thomas Nashe.)

Mailing to the UK tomorrow to restart the bookring.

Ok, I think this is the key I need to get in this door! And now, I will be able to receive future journal notes from everyone on this revived bookring! YAY!

Thanks again, Megi53.

I now return you to your bookring...

Here's an update on what's been happening. About a month ago I took the dog to the park one warm, sunny Sunday. As the park is on a steep hill and said dog needs lots of exercise I took ball thrower and this book and sat on a very handy bench halfway up the hill. Thus I threw the ball, said dog did fetch it and I read my book. Bliss. Then I got home and lost the book. I knew I had it when I got home but do you think I could find it, noooooooo. So I ordered a replacement copy and confessed all to the ring originator. Replacement copy arrived on Sat and later that day I pulled the Tv out to clean behind it and what did I find. Of course it was the original book. Now I never put books on top of the TV because our cat sits there and knocks things out of her way. Books, dvds, Wii sensor, other cats. It all goes on the floor. So whoever put the book there it wasn't me, hence I didn't know to look in the pit behind the TV.
So I will read the copy and then pass it on and in the meantime will send this copy onto the next member

Arrived safely today. I will try to read it soon.

Thanks for sharing

I've been struggling with problems recently, and I haven't had chance to read this. It is not fair to hold up the bookring any longer, so it will be travelling to Kleptokitty tomorrow.

Journal Entry 11 by Kleptokitty on Tuesday, February 26, 2008
Arrived today, so next in line to be read. It's been so long since I've had a bookring that it's really quite exciting (aren't I getting sad?!).

Journal Entry 12 by Kleptokitty on Monday, March 10, 2008
I am terribly sorry, but I didn't finnish this book. Looking back, I'm not really sure why I chose it. I really enjoy the Kinsey books, but with this book I just kept wanting to yell out 'she's fictional!!!! Who cares?'. It was terribly well researched, and referenced throughout, but I just couldn't get excited about it.

I was the same with English Literature lessons at school ... I find that analysing a book too much just really puts me off it. Oooops, I'm embarrassed now!

This is on it's way to Belgium today.

Journal Entry 13 by iliotropio from Bruxelles / Brussel, Bruxelles / Brussel Belgium on Friday, March 14, 2008
Arrived safely in Brussels. Thank you Kleptokitty!

Journal Entry 14 by iliotropio from Bruxelles / Brussel, Bruxelles / Brussel Belgium on Sunday, June 29, 2008
I've discovered Kinsey during an especially difficult period in my life. She has been my alter ego ever since, keeping the smile on my face and giving me courage to go on.
On its way to another fan of Kinsey, Algoan.

Journal Entry 15 by algoan from Beech Grove, Indiana USA on Monday, August 18, 2008
Wow!! I signed up for this bookring over two years ago... I had almost completely forgotten about it LOL. I received it close to a month ago and could have sworn I logged in, but I guess I forgot that too. :(

And like KleptoKitty, I was really looking forward to reading this book, but had to stop about a third of the way in... these folks are taking Kinsey Millhone to an almost creepy level. I basically felt like they were almost stalking a fictional character. I absolutely adore Grafton's alphabet series and always look forward anxiously for the next release, but this was just a bit too much for me.

I will contact NMReader and pass along ASAP.

This arrived today. I am looking forward to reading.

Journal Entry 18 by NMReader from Herndon, Virginia USA on Saturday, October 11, 2008
This was a great book to read if you enjoy the Kinsey Millhone series. It gave me interesting insights into Kinsey and to Sue Grafton.

There are two quotes from Kinsey I loved.

"Everything heppens for a reason, but that doesn't mean there is a point."

and

"...We are here temporarily...life is only ours on loan..."

I can't wait to read the books I haven't read yet.

Wow! I had almost thought this ring had disappeared. I'll try to help move it along but I have several ahead of me. Thanks for getting to me before I left town.

Journal Entry 21 by tiatia from Fredericksburg, Virginia USA on Thursday, December 18, 2008
Well I left town for work and came back with a massive "bug". Two weeks out of work, one week working at home, then time spent playing catch up at work. Then into the holidays.....if you couldn't tell, I didn't get a chance to finish it yet. Just so you know it didn't get lost; it goes with me on vacation and if I don't finish I'll send it on to the next reader.

Journal Entry 22 by tiatia from Fredericksburg, Virginia USA on Wednesday, January 21, 2009
I struggled through this. Although I found it interesting it was more like reading an encyclopedia. Moving it on so the next person (Blue Amazon)can enjoy.

Journal Entry 23 by BlueAmazon from Gaithersburg, Maryland USA on Sunday, February 1, 2009
Just arrived here at home in Maryland. Very much looking forward to reading!

Thanks.

Journal Entry 24 by mojosmom from Chicago, Illinois USA on Wednesday, March 11, 2009
Just received from BlueAmazon. I'm afraid it has to get in line behind some library books, though! As soon as they are returned, safely and on time, I'll read this and move it on.

Thanks to a gentle reminder from jessibud, this book has been excavated from the TBR pile. As I doubt I'll have the time to read it, I'm getting this ring moving again, and have mailed it off to mellion108.

Journal Entry 26 by mellion108 from Waterford, Michigan USA on Friday, January 22, 2010
The book is here. Thanks!

As is the case with bookrings/rays, this one arrived with a herd. I have 3 books that I have to finish right now (in the process of reading), and then I'll start this one. I'll try to have it moving again as quickly as possible. Thanks for sharing!

Journal Entry 27 by mellion108 from Waterford, Michigan USA on Thursday, February 25, 2010
Sorry for the continued delay...I have started the book, but between work and all the other bookrings that came in right before this one, I'm quite a bit behind. I'm probably about 60 pages into it. Slowly but surely, I hope!

Just wanted to journal an update to let you know the book is still in play. Also, alrescate and yvi-1 have asked to be skipped. I'll continue to PM the other participants until I either find a taker or send it to jessibud.

Thanks!

Journal Entry 28 by mellion108 from Waterford, Michigan USA on Friday, February 26, 2010
Another update: Antof9 has asked to be skipped. I PM'd AuntyJo for an address.

Journal Entry 29 by mellion108 at Bloomfield Hills, Michigan USA on Saturday, September 11, 2010
Wow, I've allowed two seasons to pass with this book still in my possession. *whistles*

I finally finished this interesting little book. I like all the "facts" about Kinsey, her background, her abode, her career, etc., but what I find even more fascinating is that Natalie Kaufman and Carol Kay devoted such an incredible amount of time, effort, and devotion into compiling this book. That's a lot of work!

Thanks so much for sharing this. The book will travel north to Canada. It can wave to the geese heading south for the winter. :)

Journal Entry 30 by jessibud at Toronto, Ontario Canada on Tuesday, September 21, 2010
Home at last! :-)

Thanks, Mellion, for the book (and for the little treats in it!)

I hope to get to it soon so I can move it on, perhaps at the next meetup (well, not the NEXT one, which is next Sunday, but hopefully, the one after that!)

Thanks to everyone who participated in this ring. This book has taken what my dad used to call *the scenic route* home but that's half the fun!

Journal Entry 31 by jessibud at Toronto, Ontario Canada on Sunday, December 7, 2014
Well, for whatever reasons, I never actually made it into this one and just noticed now that it was still on my shelf! I was once a huge Kinsey fan, and read the books in order until around *L*. Too long a break now at this point.

I will bring this book to our meetup this afternoon
