I got this hefty omnibus-edition softcover at Barnes and Noble. It's the second of a 2-volume set telling the story of a group of high school friends, one of whom starts receiving letters from her future self, with instructions on how to prevent the tragic fate of a new transfer student.

This volume picks up after the events of Volume 1. High school girl Naho and her group of close friends have just had a dramatic reveal about letters-from-the-future, and at last Naho is able to discuss the situation with her trusted pals. But events that have been changed according to the previous letters mean that the future letter-writer can no longer know how things will turn out - the gang is on their own. Can they still find a way to keep Kakeru - rapidly becoming a valued friend and part of the group - from the tragic doom that was predicted? And if his fate is changed, what will that do to the fates of the others in this timeline?

I admit I got a bit frustrated with Naho, who tends to freeze up in situations where she knows she should say something but can't get it out - even when there may be a life on the line. She's been dealing with this through the whole story, and I thought she'd begun to learn to speak out and overcome her timidity, but it's still a problem for her. That, and other realistic flaws, prevent the characters from being too good to be true - and it makes their efforts to overcome their limitations more laudable.

I got more than a little teary at the conclusion, for a variety of reasons. Unusual, sweet, funny, touching story here!

The "Orange" story wraps up in the first 2/3rds of this volume, with the rest containing a one-shot story, "Haruiro Astronaut". It has the same cute artwork - in fact, many of the characters look a lot like the ones in "Orange" - and a simple school-romance/friendship story; decent enough, and with some very funny chibi pages.

[There's a TV Tropes page on the series, and an anime that I'd like to see.]
