This new series by Rick Riordan was ultimately a lot of fun. Apollo (in the human form of Lester Papadopoulos), initially, was very amusing. It quickly became obvious that Apollo is very selfish, self-absorbed, and self-aggrandizing, which began to work on me like Chinese water torture. However, Apollo grows and changes throughout the book and begins to recognize his failings and apologize and/or try to atone where he could. Meg McCaffrey was a new interesting character and it was nice to see some of the old crowd in more grown-up form, especially Nico de Angelo, Rachel Dare, and Percy Jackson. I look forward to the next installment with Leo Valdez and Calliope.
