I will admit I resisted reading this book. Epistolary novels are difficult, and very rarely successful. I eat my words. Wonderful book. I was sorry when it ended, because it ended.

Set at the very end of WWII in England. A journalist/writer is searching for a new project and feeling overwhelmed by the war, deprivations, destruction, and loss. She hooks up with a charming group in Guernsey, one of the Channel Islands. Letters flow back and forth, and magic ensues. I don't want to give away too myuch, but I will treasure Isobel and her potions, Peter and his drinking, Kit and her lithping, and many others.
