I found this fair-condition softcover at a local Savers thrift shop. It's about a plague of strange behaviors from the world's sea creatures, great and small, which may threaten the entire planet.
The plot of this near-900-page doorstopper intrigued me, blending real-world life-forms from the deep ocean with fictional (I hope) ones that begin to take over other living things as a way of combating human influence on the planet.
I enjoyed the initial setup more than the later parts of the book - the focus on individuals who fell foul of the new lifeforms kept my interest, but as the plotting and counter-plotting expanded I found myself skimming more and more. Overall I found it an interesting premise with some great (and often creepy/disturbing) details, and with lots of all-too-true information about climate change, the devastation of ocean habitats, and much more.
[There's a TV Tropes page on the novel.]
