The Story of Lucy Gault

I believe this wwas on the 2002 Booker Shortlist. Excellent story about how the acts of a child can have incredible consequences.
This story is written with a really light hand. Each little incident and action is just touched upon like a butterfly alighting on a flower, feeding momentarily and floating on to the next. This could have resulted in it being "slight", but in fact it is quite deep.
It's not a book I would read again, but one of those that I have only got to read because of BookCrossing and I am always pleased to have had my horizons widened a little.

I sent this book as a surprise RABCK to someone in Canada who had signed up to rabck.com and after a few weeks it came all the way back, marked that the addressee had moved away and left no forwarding address!
Oh well, their loss. I'm now sending it to someone else... and hoping they haven't moved house too!

What a lovely surprise to come home to! I was not having the greatest day until I came home to this package and everything turned around! Thanks so much for the RABCK and the smile! I'll pass the good karma on as soon as I finish reading this.
