Wife of the Gods is a mystery set in small town Ghana. Flawed city detective Darko Dawson is sent out to investigate because of his family ties in the area. While there, he looks into his mother's disappearance twenty five years ago.
I read it as part of the 666 Around the World Reading Challenge 2016. While I thought it was a little formulaic, it was better than the average cozy, very entertaining, and added Ghana to the list :)
I bought this book used from the Amazon UK marketplace. It looks like it has already been traveling - it has a US/Canada ISBN, and a sticker from a British Heart Foundation charity shop. Its next stop will be another one in Switzerland, as I plan to pass it on to some friends.

yikes, I can't believe I forgot to write a release note for this one in May! I gave it to a book club friend who read it, found it a good read, and swapped with another member for The Coroners Lunch at the June meeting.

I think I'm the third person in the book group to read this book although I'm not taking part in any reading challenge. I do however like krimis.
As Mrs Peel noted this was a swap with the Coroner's lunch. Of the two I preferred the Coroner's Lunch but as it accompanied me on my holidays that may have introduced a bias.
I felt Quartey's book was a good stand alone story but I didn't warm to Darko enough to begin following a series. I hope he learns in the future novels to control his temper and desist from beating folk up - the end doesn't always justify the means
