Review
Christie is always an entertaining read & this was no exception. I'm wondering if I've read it before as the title story in particular felt vaguely familiar but no matter. Poirot as usual seems to pluck some of his deductions out of thin air & everything is always tied up as neatly as an Xmas parcel at the end. There's also a Miss Marple mystery thrown in for good measure.

I do wonder how these stories would work set in todays world of facebook & with all the other social media that's about - surely the mistaken id's of "Four & Twenty Blackbirds" couldn't happen, certainly not as easily. That said "The Mystery of the Spanish Chest" is very Jonathan Creekish......

Journal Entry 4 by klanes at Boston, Massachusetts USA on Thursday, July 14, 2016
I found this book on a bench in front of the Mary Baker Eddy library on July 3, 2016. I was there to visit the Mapparium, and happened on the book. Since Agatha Christie is one of my all time favorite authors, I had to pick it up. I'm about 25% done, and will give an update when I've finished it. Thank you for the gift of mystery, plum-crazy!

Journal Entry 5 by klanes at Gloucester, Massachusetts USA on Friday, August 5, 2016
I've finished the book and plan to leave it near the Old Man of the Sea in Gloucester. Hope someone picks it up! There are plenty of tourists nearby, and perhaps it will find a new read from far away. Mysteries away!!!
