It's Christmas Eve and Detective Alex Cross has been called out to catch someone who's robbing his church's poor box. I've read & enjoyed some Patterson but this, my first - & probably last Alex Cross tale - was *shudder* pretty dire. In truth, from the instant I met Nana Mama I loathed her, which didn't help & the family scenarios just irritated me.

While it had the potential to be a gripping, intense tale, for me it sadly fell way wide of the mark. Maybe the earlier Cross books are much better but I won't be bothering to find out.......
