Carl Nixon was Writer-in-Residence while I was working in the English Department, so I've talked to him many times, but for some reason I never got round to reading any of his writing before now. It turns out this book was a great place to start - it's a lovely collection of wonderfully evocative stories, that are entirely New Zealand in flavour while still being universal enough that I think they'll resonate with readers from other countries.

The perfect book to take to the Athens convention, in other words.

I was intrigued by the title and decided to take it home when I understood it was short stories. I don't get too much time to read these days so this should work for me. I found this at the book buffet at the convention in Athens.
