What a great idea! Each contribution is worth listening to and considering. The historical ones from the 50s were interesting, but not my favorite (with the exception of amazing authors like Robert Heinlein and John Updike). Modern-day famous people like John McCain and Ben Carson were a step up for me. I was disappointed that so many revolved around faith in organized religion, but thrilled to hear the opposing view from Penn Jillette and the mom explaining the death of a pet to her young daughter. I really connected with my contemporary, everyday Joes. "Be Cool to the Pizza Delivery Dude" will stick with me, maybe over all the others.
I started listening to this on a roadtrip with my parents and it started a great conversation that we need to follow up on someday. Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to reading the second volume. I'm also going to suggest to my book club that we each write our own "I Believe" essay.

Heading off to FL by mail. Enjoy!
This book arrived today. Thank you for sharing with me.
A different kind of book. One I could start and stop without worrying where I was. It is interesting that faith is important to so many people. Now, to find a new listener. Reserved for my VBB CD only bookbox.
Enjoy! Chosen from my CD only VBB KTM RABCK to azuki
House cleaning time --- and time for mysterious unjournaled BC books to pop up!! Umm, real sorry, must have put aside when books arrived, but they are safely here. Thanks. And thanks for the funny calendar pages you enclosed. Give me a good laugh for today. Thank you!
My husband is an avid NPR fan, and the starting music on the CD brings back fond memories of half-waking up while listening to the program. I had no clue that this program has been around since the 1950s, and had included essays from such famous people as Helen Keller, Eleanor Roosevelt, and Albert Einstein, just to name a few. Of course, there are many "average folks" sharing their wisdom, and in some way they are more interesting as it feels more like friends talking.
Unfortunately, for me, when I listen to audiobooks while driving, I am only paying partial attention; short essays like this does not work as good as long stories where my wandering mind can miss some detail.

As there is no longer any audio box, virtual or physical, circulating around now, I've offered some of the CDs on Paperbackswap so they can continue their journey.
