Publisher's description

The first novel in a sizzling new trilogy of vampire romances. Alexander Reynard is not only a former special-forces officer; he's also a vampire. When he meets fellow bodyguard Domini Lancer, a human, he knows he's met his soulmate. But when a stalker threatens Domini, Alex protects her the only way he knows--by kidnapping her and taking her to his clan's stronghold. There, it's impossible to hide who--and what--he is any longer. Will she be able to accept him? Or is she a vampire slayer who's cleverly infiltrated Clan Fox?

My comments: I Burn For You is not terribly original as far as vampire romance goes. In fact, its similarity to Christine Feehan's Carpathian books is rather uncanny. Still, in my opinion this trilogy debut is a vast improvement over Sizemore's Law's of the Blood series. I Burn For You has a likeable heroine and the romance is steamy enough to satisfy readers hungry for vamp/mortal interaction. There is a lot of Alpha male bossiness in this book, so beware if you don't like heroes with dominant attitudes. I believe the next book out is called I Thirst For You and there is a preview at the end of this one.

Cool story. Not the best vampire romance that I've read but not bad. :0)

I just mailed this off to BunRab today. Happy Reading.

Well, I finally dug this out from a pile where it had accidentally gotten "neatened up" and read it. I'd have to agree with a previous reader- while it's not great, it sucks far less than her Laws of the Blood stuff. I actually managed to finish this one, and even enjoyed parts of it.

Spousal Unit also read it. Quote: "Damn blood-sucking seagulls!" (You remember the scene in "Finding Nemo" where the seagulls are standing around going "Mine, mine, mine" - well, Alex Reynard sounds just like them. :-)

Now to find the next name on the list...

This was actually a good book but not the greatest. I love vampire stories and this was an enjoyable one. It was annoying with the how some of the males acted and the end left you hanging there but it was a good read. This will be sent to tish2002 when I recieve an address.

Journal Entry 13 by tish2002 on Saturday, August 7, 2004
Yay! I received this today. I will journal again when I've finished it.

I found this to be kind of slow and hard to get into in the beginning. It really picked up half way through and turned out pretty good. I'm glad I stuck with it.
I'm mailing this to tchouli this week.

Journal Entry 19 by Sidney1220 from McLean, Virginia USA on Thursday, September 23, 2004
While I like vampire romances in general, I've never been a fan of storylines involving psychic connections and predestination, except in supernatural thrillers. Still, once I got through that hurdle the book had enough sexual tension to sustain the story and kept me interested till the end. I also liked the way the author dismissed some of the myths surrounding vampires and the new spin she put on things. Some of the loose threads could have been tied up a lot better towards the end, but all in all an enjoyable read.

Excellent! I will have to check out some more books written by
Susan Sizemore. Thanks for the bookring Quest-Kraven.
This book is now on it's way to explorer1118m

Journal Entry 24 by explorer1118m from Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey USA on Monday, November 29, 2004
I'm starting this within the next day or two and hope to get it out again by Friday. It's part of a bookring that will go next to CheriePie.

Well, not only did i have it done by Friday, i had the thing read by late Tuesday night. I liked that it didn't have the same old vamp history that i see so often, yet it wasn't too far off from the norm that i missed any of my favorite vamp lore. I plan to read more from this author in the future.

Released on Wednesday, December 01, 2004 at about 10:00:00 PM BX time (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) at bookring in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey USA.

RELEASE NOTES:

Part of a bookring on it's way to CheriePie. I liked it. I found i didn't want to put it down, and read the whole thing the day after i recieved it.

Journal Entry 26 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Tuesday, December 7, 2004
Thanks to Quest-Kraven for inserting me into this ray, late in the game though I was. And to explorer1118m, who probably knows my snail mail address by heart now, for sending it to me. :) I had this book on my wishlist, not having read anything by Susan Sizemore yet so I figured I'd start with this series since I'm a fan of vampire fiction. I'm finishing up some other books right now but should be starting on this by the end of the week.

Journal Entry 27 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Sunday, December 12, 2004
Eh I could give or take this one. It was a little too much of a romance for my taste, with not much else going on. Probably the only thing that kept me from giving it less than a 5 was the fact that there were vampires in it (and a minor werewolf appearance). But after awhile, I got sick of the whole "I'm the alpha male, and you're my woman. Mine, mine, mine!" mentality. I almost gave up on it and didn't finish it, but Amazon has been recommending this author to me consistently based on my past book ratings there, so I wanted to read it all the way through so I could give it a true assessment.

Obviously, this isn't to say that others will not like this book, it just wasn't my cup of tea. It read too much like a Harlequin for me...

I'll be mailing this out to minabomb in Portugal as soon as I get his/her address and can get to the post office during the week. (I'll add another journal entry with exact dates and shipping info at that time.)

Happy Holidays to All!!

Journal Entry 28 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Friday, December 24, 2004
Mailed to minabomb in Portugal on 22-Dec-2004 via International Surface Mail. I hope it makes it there in a reasonable time since my last package to Portugal sent at the end of November is still outstanding, while a package sent to Kuwait that same day was received only a week and a day later.

EDIT 09-Jan-2005: The original shipment to Portugal mentioned in this post was indeed received. The recipient just failed to journal that they'd received it, which they've done now at my request. If minabomb hasn't journaled the receipt of this book in about a month's time, I'll follow up with another PM to her to see if that might be the case.

Journal Entry 29 by CheriePie from Campbell, California USA on Friday, February 18, 2005
Followed up again with minabomb on this book which still hasn't been received by her. I'm sending her a copy of my receipt from the post office, which includes the custom label number, so she can do whatever is possible from her end to see if the book actually arrived in her country or not. Based on what she finds out, I'll take the relevant info back to my post office if necessary to see if the this book's whereabouts can be tracked down.

i'll make a review at the end...i'm finishing another novel so i'll start this one when i'm done
thanks to all of you... cherie*

Journal Entry 31 by minabomb from Estoril, Lisboa (distrito) Portugal on Wednesday, March 9, 2005
finished...
at start i thought that this was one real bad book...the writing didn't get better, but the history did, with some interesting plot to keep me interested and that spark of vampire male to keep me dreaming...altought the character of Reynard should be improved in some aspects...
The vampire history and realm was very interesting, fighting against those "preconceived" ideas of vampires...this is a very modern version...
and the female character was a very modern woman, skilled enough to defend herself.. :)
for that all, i recommend the book

thanks Quest-Kraven...i'll wait for nikel27 to send me the address
and thanks cheriepie for your interest in the book

I received this over the weekend. Book dance at the mailbox performed. I think my book dance is working too well. I now have three book rings in my possession. I will get to this one as soon as possible.

Journal Entry 35 by BooksnBeer from Pasadena, Florida USA on Tuesday, June 28, 2005
Starting this one today. I haven't read anything by this author. I'm looking forward to trying out a new author and see what twists to the old myth she presents in her novels.

Journal Entry 36 by BooksnBeer from Pasadena, Florida USA on Wednesday, July 6, 2005
I finished reading this over the weekend, and it is on it's way to the next person.

It is an all right book. I really didn't get into all the alpha male stuff. It pulls the vampire as a species closer to an animal and in my opinion; it doesn’t fit in as good with the human cousin, protector idea. The author does make me want to find out more about the Clan aspect. I would definitely try the next book in the series.

Journal Entry 37 by ghaweyn from Colorado Springs, Colorado USA on Saturday, July 9, 2005

I have finished it and I will release it asap. I thought the writing towards the end was pretty sketchy.
