A bizarre not-too-distant-future dystopian setting where America is in the grips of a technological civil war. Meanwhile, a young man is kidnapped in the desert and forced to become a woman to better understand his position. A short but difficult read. Very weird (even by my standards!).

Now actually finished and I've remembered to bring it to the meetup. An early (1980s) exploration of transgender issues. The author always makes you think.

I picked this up at the York Bookcrossers Meetup last night. I loved Angela Carter's Nights at the Circus, and quite liked Magic Toyshop and Bloody Chamber, so we'll see what this one is like. Thanks sherdnerdess.
I'm a terrible bookcrosser, sorry. I'm about to move house, and am culling any 'to be read' books that have been hanging around unread. I'm very sorry to keep this one so long and then pass it along unread, that's a rubbish thing to do.
A strange but interesting book, which I fear went completely over my head! Worth a read still.
Bizarre book. No idea what it was about.
