Funny in Farsi : A Memoir of Growing Up Iranian in America
4 journalers for this copy...
I liked these essays on growing up Iranian in the U.S.
We've got a friend who's originally from Iran and came here during college...speaks Farsi and is actually quite funny....I was, oddly, looking this book up at Amazon last week when I saw that Jan had just read and reviewed it. She kindly sent it along to me. Thanks, Jan!
One of my favorite-est friends in the world is married to a fellow who was born in Iran and made his way to America via a college education in engineering at Texas Tech. Gosh, I liked reading about Ali's culture...and this book *does* tell about his culture, that of an Iranian-American. Oddly, Ali's a terribly entertaining fellow (think Firoozeh's dad) and his son has thoughts of becoming (look of horror) a comedian.

This was a wonderful, funny book. I kept picking it up at times when I knew I should not be reading, but couldn't resist just one more page, or two more...
This will be going into my 2003+ bookbox soon.
