I read another copy of this book in 2005. This is what I wrote about it after I read it...
In Jane Kramer’s hectic life, she works at her husband Leon’s family-owned Discount Furniture Depot store, assists her soccer-playing Goth son when he is suspended from school, and assists fellow soccer-mom Tiffany’s business of scrapbooking. With her penchant for feeling left out of things and effortlessly creating multiple faux pas, Jane creates a riotous account of what life can be like for one suburban woman in Rockville, a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC.
Using recognizable place names from the city of Rockville itself (including the book title, Rockville Pike), a very warm and familiar atmosphere provides an exceptional setting for this delightful story. Coll’s humor is short and terse. She hits it right on the money each time. Many readers will just nod their heads in agreement as they follow along in this story of Jane’s series of misfortunes.
Recommended for its sarcastic humor and life-like situations.
