One of the things I like about this series is how wide-ranging the plot lines can be. This book is a good example of that, delving into the Cold War and East Germany. It's not just book after book of drug dealers and normal city crime. I also particularly admired this book for the effective portrayal of how suffocating the constant surveillance of East German-brand Communism could be. It was very creepy.
