I found this good-condition hardcover at a local thrift shop, and thought it sounded intriguing. It describes the author's participation in a community effort to clean up and restore a long-neglected east Texas graveyard - the neglect due in part to surrounding landowners fencing off access (something that's against the law). The individual stories of the people whose family members were buried there were quite touching, as were the descriptions of the gatherings to clear brush and uncover grave markers, accompanied with reflections on past visits to the graves - and the ongoing difficulty of reaching the spot, as it was surrounded by more and more landowners seeking to make a quick profit off of timber and natural gas. There are personal anecdotes as well, with the author juggling her own prejudices and misconceptions as she tries to maintain a friendship with the people whose loved ones lie in Love Cemetery.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I plan to leave this book on a bench or window ledge in the downtown area near Chestnut St. at around 1 or so; hope the finder enjoys it! [The discovery of the long-lost African Burying Ground in that area inspired me to leave this book nearby.]

*** Released as part of the 2016 April Showers/May Flowers release challenge, for the columbines on the cover. ***
