I've had this hardcover on my keeper shelves for some time now, and I think it's time it went traveling. It's a look at customs associated with death in different places around the world, from cultural concepts to artwork to burial customs. It's something of a companion book to the PBS series of the same name, but goes into more depth than the show was able to do.
The book covers everything from cryogenics to mummification, from ossuaries to drive-through funeral chapels - and the author's tone and personal connection enhances the narrative.
