No idea where I picked this up.

Not my usual thing at all, but I must admit, I quite enjoyed it. It's a real page turner. Set in Tibet after the Chinese took over, it's otherwise a straight up detective thriller. The detective is a former Chinese investigator, currently a political prisoner in Tibet who is asked to look into the death of a prominent official in the region. From there the whole thing spirals into conspiracies and religious rituals. Throw in an American company with mining interests, and you've got quite a muddle for him to determinedly sort out. Good stuff.
