bought on amazon for the 666 challenge - this is a series of short stories set in various exotic locations, with loose themes of cultural difference, relationships, pain and loss. The locations ranged from Tonga to Tapei, Hawaii and Antarctica. A short book but I enjoyed this.

I wasn't expecting another book, but I enjoy short stories and this one seems to be interesting. Thanks :-)
A good book of short stories, with a common theme. Women who have to deal with a new environment in exotic places, such as the South Pacific Islands, China, Japan and even the Antarctic. We have stories of women running away from their past, trying to patch up their marriage or looking for adventure and the meaning of life. The writing is appealing; it gets through to you without the need for elaborate explanations. I enjoyed it!
The book arrived safely in Berlin! Thanks a lot for the extra treat!

Safely arrived and on the pile of books to read. Being a bookring it's right on the top.

I really enjoyed the writing style of these short stories, where with not many pages the inner thin kings of various people came through. The main theme seemed to be loneliness, sometimes backed up by geographical loneliness but always (as far as I recall) a sense of emotional isolation from others.

edwardstreet asked to be skipped so these are heading across the ditch airmail. Apologies for the delay and thanks for the reminder.
If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it.
This is just what I need - short stories for my short attention span. :)
Thank you for giving me a chance to read this book. It arrived just when I was struggling to find a book that would keep me interested enough to finish it. On the whole I'd say that it was an ok read in that after the first 3 stories they all seemed to be the same and you already know what the next one will be. But it was written well enough.
This book is now off to crimson-tide.

A wonderful collection of stories centred on women in far flung places, their hopes, dreams and disappointments, their relationships, their struggles. Extremely well written and very memorable. Thanks for including this one pam99.

Glad I am last as I have three books on the go
An extremely well written book with well crafted stories. My hesitation is a feminist may well think that many of the characters are losers. Many have or had high powered jobs that did not lead too any sort of happiness or fulfilment just the opposite
Will be releasing into the wild
