Joy, newly divorced after finding her husband and sister having an affair, just wants to run away this Christmas. So she does, buying a ticket on a charter plane that crashes. She walks away from the crash and finds Daniel & Bobby, smarting after his ex-wife's death and dreading this holiday season. She promises Bobby that she will stay only through Christmas day, then she needs to go back home for a while. Except, she wakes up in a hospital bed and had never been to Washington and seen Daniel and Bobby...or did she? She was rescued from the crash after all, and was in a medically induced coma for weeks. Now in the spring, when she's recovered, she doesn't want her old life any more....so she takes a plane to Washington, and finds Daniel & Bobby.
