Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him.

Violet Markey lives for the future, counting the days until graduation, when she can escape her Indiana town and her aching grief in the wake of her sister’s recent death.

When Finch and Violet meet on the ledge of the bell tower at school, it’s unclear who saves whom. And when they pair up on a project to discover the “natural wonders” of their state, both Finch and Violet make more important discoveries: It’s only with Violet that Finch can be himself—a weird, funny, live-out-loud guy who’s not such a freak after all. And it’s only with Finch that Violet can forget to count away the days and start living them. But as Violet’s world grows, Finch’s begins to shrink.

I saw an article about the author on Facebook recently. I found out that when she write books, she got to have some music playing the background. And all books got one song that have inspired her in the writing. I found out that the song for this book, is one of my favorites, I Got You by Spilt Enz. Written by Neil Finn. The band and song are in the book. The sad thing is that their drummer committed suicide some years ago. Theodore Finch lissen to the song when he is in his 80-phase.
So I decided it was time to read the book.
The book starts with Finch is up on a roof and planing to jump. The day after I start reading, I look out of the window at work and there is a young man on the roof a cross the street. He was walking on back and fort and then sat on the chimney. He looked a bit desperate. It was scary. I did not want to look. Just in case he would jump. I think the police got him down safely. Its tragic that young people ends up killing them self like that.

It was a good book, but a sad book.

A sweet book, about a serious topic. As most teen-fiction it is a page-turner.
I may push the book on some of my students before it continues it's journey. I hope that is ok?

A note of warning; keep the tissues close!
