There was a time in my teens when I read everything about the Holocaust that I could find and then for years I have not wanted to return to the subject. Unfortunately I first read Wiesel's sequel to this book, Dawn, in which he was a terrorist in Israel and killed a British officer they had captured. Had he killed Germans during WW2 I would have said nothing, but in Dawn he lost my sympathies, even if he had had a horrible childhood. The circle of cruelty and violence will never be broken, unless somebody breaks it. And Wiesel didn't.
So, another sad story about a Jewish family and its sole survivor.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
On offer at Johto meet-up.
My favorite terrible topic in history. I have so many friends who have read and loved this so I think I'll read this one too. And it's small.
I liked this one. The story of Wiesel's early life is horrifying and I can't even imagine a life like that. I don't approve that he became a terrorist but I understand how a person with such a traumatic past would become angry towards everything.
Sending this as a rabck to Alexiapapa. =) Enjoy!
Thank you so much for the unexpected surprise!
