this is a slim volume which I read in one evening... some beautiful poems, especially the last one 'of despair', but I was left with a feeling that they would be far more beautiful if only I could read Spanish! I have the same feeling when reading poetry in Scottish Gaelic, where I have enough of the language to get some words and a bit of the gist (at least sometimes), but not nearly enough to appreciate the beauty of the poetry. Poetry is useful when people say 'ah, it doesn't matter about languages, everyone should just speak English' - there are lots of words that don't translate!
