Banned in Virginia for 'taking the Lord's name in vain.'

Galadriel, (Gilly) comes with a chip on her shoulder the size of Maryland. She is, as her social worker exclaims to her 3rd or 4th foster parent, 'one of the children of the Flower Children'. Obviously her life has not been easy. Now she is stuck in a new foster home with a cowering little boy, a large God-fearing Baptist woman, and a blind man. Sigh. She immediately plots to turn this to her advantage.

Gilly occassionally does say Hell, and take the Lord's name in vain. Trotter (her current foster mother) gently corrects her, and asks her not to do so. But Gilly is adrift, trying to prove to adults around her she doesn't need them. She tries to drive them away, and is mostly successful until she reaches her last foster placement. There she finds a family that gently steers her to better times. Worth one or two 'hells' in my opinion.

Fly far little book!
