Journal Entry 1 by goatgrrl from New Westminster, British Columbia Canada on Tuesday, February 24, 2004
The third book in this series, featuring Detective Sergeant Wesley Peterson (a former archaeologist) and his archaeologist friend, Neil Watson. In each of the "Wesley Peterson" mysteries, set in the city of "Tradmouth" (Dartmouth) in southwest England, a contemporary murder mystery echoes an archaeological mystery. Kate Ellis depicts life in contemporary Devon -- changing fast in the modern era, though its history is evident everywhere -- very well. There's also a good subtext involving the soft-core racism and resentment of local residents, since Wesley Peterson is black.

I'm mailing this book to some friends in Ottawa I think might like it. Since they're travelling this spring to Devon, UK (where this story takes place), perhaps they'll set it free there!
