Another Discworld bookray...

This one isn't as fun as most of the others in the series and it wasnt the one that I read first, so I've decided to share it as it dosent hold any really special meaning for me, unlike some of the other Discworlds. For those people who like to proceed chronologically through series, here is your chance to discover the discworld...

I'd never heard of The Coulour of Magic or the Discworld series before a few months ago... Which surprises me, because I usually know about things like this. And I've heard from multiple sources that the first one isn't as good as later books(even the author says so). But I decided to start with the first one anyway, because its always fun to have something to look foward to in a series (in my experience they often go downhill).
I really didn't know what to make of this... At points it seemed like a fun satire using the fantasy novel as a starting point (sort of like "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"... For some reason I hope that comparison doesn't offend anyone). I found the "reflected-sound-as-of-underground-spirits" amusing... It seems like I've heard that somewhere before (probably, since this book is 20 years old).
But at other times, the book seemed surprisingly serious. I won't go into examples, because maybe I missed something... But it created a confusing feel to the book.

One thing I've got to know.. what is the deal with all of the naked people? Almost every time there was a female character she was naked, or close to it.
I saw enough of what could be a good series in this one to go for the next one... But I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.

To note: The BCID written on the inside of the book was wrong.. I corrected it. Also, While the book itself looks to be in good shape, this edition is apparently not well made. One of the last pages looks to be in danger of falling out. It hasn't yet, but it looks like it very well might within a few reads, so be careful.
Contacting fanclub...

I've always taken the naked ladies as a joke, sort of like the cover pictures...I know my mom gave me these really strange looks when she saw i was reading book with vaguely pornographic covers, so i've had great fun telling people, "its not like THAT."

anyway, thanks for fixing the BCID, I have a long history of confusion in that area.
